About Us

What We Do

It is our hope that we not only provide our school with spirit and Hawk pride but also to unify the the student body, faculty, alumni, and surrounding community. We will support as many school events as possible as well as attend several competitions, including NCA collegiate nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. Our wish is by the end of the season that all members who at one time strangers, become a family away from their families.

Practice

The New Paltz Cheerleading Team typically practices 2-3 times a week on campus, as well as having team strength and conditioning practices. Practices are either held in Elting Gym or the Hawk Center. Athletes are expected to work out during the off-periods to maintain their fitness level. Practices will start in the beginning of September.

Games

The Hawks Cheerleaders attend all Men’s and Women’s home basketball games. The energy and enthusiasm Cheerleaders bring into the game make the players feel supported and motivated during the game, while at the same time keeping the audience entertained. Cheerleaders set a great example of motivation, school spirit, and positive energy.

Competitions

Each year we aim to compete at NCA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Nationals in Daytona Beach, Fl. NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship is the largest college cheerleading and dance event in the country, bringing over 6,200 participants and 5,350 spectators yearly, with the projection of additional growth.

Athletes take over Daytona Beach, FL for this iconic event as they compete for a national title. The coveted Bandshell and Ocean Center Convention Center venues make this event a stand out location to compete. Spectators are eager to join us year after year, filling these venues to capacity, with thousands more worldwide watching online on Varsity TV.

Philanthropy

Each year, the New Paltz Cheerleaders choose a few different community events or charities to participate in. As an organization we believe that its important to give back to our community and to help support those that are in need.
